China sees increase in import, export finished steel

According to the statistics from the Customs, in November,
China imported 2.06 million metric tons of finished steel products, up 130.000 metric tons, or 6.7 percent month on month, up 270.000 metric tons, or 15.08 percent year on year. In the first 11 months of this year,
China imported 24.04 million tons of finished steel products cumulatively, fell 3.28 million metric tons, or 12.1 percent year on year.
Going in the other direction, in November,
China exported 1.56 million metric tons of finished steel products, up 220.000 metric tons, or 16.4 percent month on month, fell 360.000 metric tons, or 16.7 percent year on year. The cumulative export volume of finished steel through the first eleven months was 18.7 million metric tons, up 6.63 million metric tons, or 55.14 percent year on year.
China net imported 500.000 metric tons of finished steel products in November, and the cumulative net import volume in Jan-Nov period was 5.34 million metric tons.
On
semis side, in November,
China imported 110.000 metric tons of semi-finished products, up 60.000 metric tons, or 120 percent month on month, up 54.000 metric tons, or 96.4 percent year on year. In Jan-Nov period,
China imported 1.24 million metric tons of
semis, fell 2.49 million metric tons, or 67.1 percent year on year.
Going the other way, in November,
China exported 400.000 metric tons of
semis, up 240.000 metric tons, or 150 percent month on month, fell 590.000 metric tons, or 59.6 percent year on year. In Jan-Nov period,
China exported 6.54 million metric tons of semi-finished products, up 2.03 million metric tons, or 45.4 percent year on year.
China net exported 290.000 metric tons of semi-finished products in November, and 5.3 million metric tons through the first eleven months cumulatively.
Calculate on crude steel basis,
China net imported 380.000 metric tons of crude steel.
In addition, in Jan-Nov period,
China imported 248.51 million metric tons of
iron ore cumulatively, a year-on-year increase of 32.7 percent.
