China produces over one million automotive vehicles in August

In August, China produced 1.1407 million autos, indicating an increase of 2.62 percent over the previous month and up 86.10 percent year on year. Meanwhile, China sold 1.1385 million autos in August, marking a rise of 4.71 percent month on month and 81.68 percent year on year. Thus, in August China's auto output and sales both exceeded one million units for the sixth consecutive month.

During the first eight months of 2009, China produced and sold 8.2507 million and 8.3313 million autos respectively, up 26.55 percent and 29.18 percent year on year, indicating accelerated growth in auto output and sales.

While seeing increased sales, China's 19 principal automakers also posted much improved business results in the first seven months of this year. The key automakers achieved sales revenues of RMB 762.594 billion ($111.64 billion) in the January-July period, up 5.95 percent year on year. The growth was five percentage points higher month on month. Meanwhile, the net profits of these automakers for the period in question totaled RMB 53.759 billion ($7.87 billion), up 8.82 percent compared with the same period of the previous year.
