China ports cargo throughput increases by 11.2 percent in August

According to China Business News, the cargo throughput of major Chinese ports realized 770 million mt in August, up 11.2 percent year on year. In the January-August period of this year, the aggregate throughput of major Chinese ports increased by 13.4 percent year on year. 

In August, domestic ports' cargo throughput slightly increased by 180,000 mt month on month, but its increase rate was 2.8 percent lower than that of the previous month.

According to the data released by China's Ministry of Transport, domestic container throughput in August hit the highest level in its history, but increase rate was a little lower. Domestic container throughput in August reached 14.46 million twenty equivalent of unit (TEU), up 9.8 percent year on year, including offshore 12.97 million TEU and inland river 1.49 million TEU
