Chile forecasts increase in apparent steel consumption

Chilean steel institute (ICHA) has forecast a 1.4 percent increase in the country’s apparent steel consumption, it said on Tuesday.

According to ICHA, Chile’s apparent consumption for steel is expected to reach 2,8 million mt in 2015. ICHA said in 2014 apparent consumption was 2.7 million mt, 1.3 percent up compared to a year ago. 

ICHA also said steel imports from January to October increased 3 percent, year on year. Finished steel imports jumped 121 percent to 416,000 mt, it said.
