In conclusion of the overall reviews, in order to determine the steps to be taken, for longs market in UK under the framework of its business plan initiated by the acquisition of former ASW mill in January 2003, Spanish steel group Celsa expressed in its statement made at the end of last week that they have adequate market confidence to make Cardiff plant ready to launch production. It was also stated that production desicion is expected to be taken at the end of this quarter at latest, unless the bad market conditions get even severer. According to Celsa, it will take a couple of months to prepare the mill for production and cost a substantial amount of expense as the plant is shut down for more than 9 months. Spanish Celsa paid GBP 24 million for the plant, the Sheerness rolling mill and new continiuous casting facility.
