Carpenter Technology announces price hike

The Specialty Alloys Operations unit of Carpenter Technology Corp has recently announced that it will increase prices of all grades of stainless steel, high temperature and specialty alloy coil products effective for shipments and new orders as of October 1, 2004. Base prices of strip, sheet and flat rolled products will increase by 8-12% for all electronic alloys and 6-8% for all stainless and alloy steels. Base prices of wire and rod will increase by 5-7% for all stainless steel and high temperature alloys. Moreover, Carpenter Specialty Wire Products unit will increase base prices of all wire and ribbon products by 8-12% effective for shipments and new orders as of October 1, 2004. No change in the prevailing raw material surcharges has been announced.
