Cargo volumes up 8 percent year-over-year at Indiana ports

Indiana's three ports handled over 7.7 million net tons (nt) of cargo in 2010, an 8 percent increase over 2009, as steel shipments rose 12 percent over the period.

 The Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville experienced the most significant year-over-year increase, handling 1.7 million nt in 2010, 27 percent higher than shipments in 2009 and the fourth-largest total in the ports history.
