Structal-Bridges, a division of Quebec-based Canam Group Inc., has been awarded five contracts totaling close to $33 million for the rehabilitation or replacement of highway infrastructures in Canada and the United States.
Structal-Bridges will fabricate 1,300 tons of steel components for the rehabilitation of the Highway 21 southbound viaduct and two access ramps in Newark, New Jersey. Also in New Jersey, the business unit obtained a contract to supply 3,100 tons of components for the rehabilitation of the Pulaski Skyway, a 3.5-mile (5.6 km) bridge that connects Jersey City, Kearny and Newark.
Structal-Bridges will supply over 760 tons of components that will be used in one of several reconstruction phases planned for the Turcot Interchange in Montreal, Quebec. The components will serve to build the replacement ramp between Highway 15 and Highway 20 West over the future rail corridor as well as an overpass on Highway 15.
The division also landed a contract to fabricate 2,300 tons of steel components for the construction of a temporary bypass bridge that's included in the project to replace the Nuns' Island Bridge, Montreal's gateway to the Champlain Bridge.
Structal-Bridges will fabricate 2,000 tons of steel components for the first cable-stayed bridge ever built in the province of Ontario.
