Canadian rig count continues to climb while US count sees modest rise

Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending May 30 the US rig count increased by nine to 1,866, following a four-rig decrease the week before.  The rig count is still up by 95 from 1,771 rigs during the same week a year ago.  The oil rig count increased by eight to 1,536, whereas the gas rig count increased by one to 326.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count’s increase surged in the week ending May 30, increasing by 44 to reach 198 following a one-rig increase the previous week.  The Canadian rig count is now up 53 from 145 rigs during the same week a year ago.
