Canadian coking coal production rises 3.5 percent in May

According to Statistics Canada, coking coal production reached 184,168 mt in May 2017, up 3.5 percent from the 177,869 mt produced in May 2016. On a month-on-month analysis, production reflected a 4.6 percent increase from the 176,094 mt produced in April.

The supply of coking coal in Canada in May reached 246,763 mt, which represents a 0.7 percent decrease from the 248,412 mt of supply in April but a 1.2 percent increase from the 243,786 mt of supply in May 2016.
