Canada’s rig count surges by 35 as US’ falls

According to Friday's report from Baker Hughes, for the week ending May 25, the Canadian rig count increased by 35 to 158 but was down 21 from the same week a year ago.

Meanwhile, the US rig count fell by three from the previous week to 1,983 but remained up 136 year-on-year. The oil rig count increased by just one to 1,383 (up 425 year-on-year), but was more than offset by a six-rig drop in gas rig counts; the gas rig count fell to 594, representing a decrease of 287 year-over-year.
