CAAM: China’s passenger vehicle output up 6.6 percent in January-May

In May this year, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China amounted to 1.772 million units and 1.793 million units, down 3.7 percent and up 0.5 percent month on month, while rising by 5.5 percent and 11.3 percent year on year, respectively, as announced by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). In the January-May period this year, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China totaled 9.327 million units and 9.258 million units, up 6.6 percent and 7.8 percent year on year, respectively.
 
As for commercial vehicles, domestic output and sales volumes in May amounted to 293,000 units and 299,000 units, down 12.7 percent and 13 percent month on month, while increasing by two percent and 1.4 percent year on year, respectively. In the January-May period, domestic output and sales of commercial vehicles totaled 1.516 million units and 1.497 million units, up 0.9 percent and 2.3 percent year on year, respectively.
