CAAM: China’s passenger vehicle output up 15.5 percent in 2016

In December last year, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China amounted to 2.644 million units and 2.672 million units, up 0.23 percent and 3.17 percent month on month, while rising by 13.6 percent and 9.09 percent year on year, respectively, as announced by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). 

In 2016, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China totaled 24.421 million units and 24.377 million units, up 15.5 percent and 14.9 percent year on year, respectively. 

As for commercial vehicles, domestic output and sales volumes in December amounted to 418,700 units and 385,100 units, increasing by 12.38 percent and 10.5 percent month on month, while rising by 25.07 percent and 12.14 percent year on year, respectively. In 2016, domestic output and sales of commercial vehicles totaled 3.698 million units and 3.651 million units, up 8.01 percent and 5.8 percent year on year, respectively.
