CAAM: China’s auto output rises by 8.1 percent in January-September

In September this year, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China amounted to 2.0070 million units and 1.9836 million units, up 17.1 percent and 15.6 percent month on month respectively, while rising by 4.2 percent and 2.5 percent year on year, as announced by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). In the first nine months of the year, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China totaled 17.2259 million units and 17.0009 million units, up by 8.1 percent and 7.0 percent year on year respectively, with these growth rates 4.7 and 5.7 percentage points lower compared to the same period last year.
 
In particular, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China in September this year totaled 1.7243 million units and 1.6960 million units, increasing by 16.4 percent and 15.5 percent month on month respectively, while up 9.4 percent and 6.4 percent year on year. In the January-September period of the year, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China totaled 14.3862 million units and 14.1555 million units, up 11.3 percent and 10.2 percent year on year, respectively.
 
As for commercial vehicles, domestic output and sales in September this year amounted to 282,700 units and 287,600 units, up 21.1 percent and 16.3 percent month on month, while decreasing by 19.3 percent and 16.0 percent on year-on-year basis, respectively. In the first nine months, domestic output and sales of commercial vehicles in China amounted to 2.8397 million mt and 2.8454 million mt, down 5.7 percent and 6.2 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, also in September, China's auto export volume amounted to 78,100 units, up 14.7 percent month on month and increasing by 0.03 percent year on year, including 48,400 passenger vehicles and 29,700 commercial vehicles, up 18.2 percent and 9.3 percent on month-on-month basis, while increasing by 1.1 percent and declining by 1.7 percent year on year, respectively. In the first nine months of the year, China's auto export volume totaled 662,900 units, down 7.5 percent year on year.
