Building permits in Turkey up 77 percent in Q1

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the number of buildings authorized by building permits from municipalities in Turkey in the first quarter of the current year increased to 43,561, up 76.8 percent from 24,636 registered during the same period of the previous year. In the first quarter of 2012, the number of buildings authorized by municipality building permits totaled 20,353.

In the first quarter this year, the value of the buildings in question increased by 110.0 percent year on year to TRY 48.92 billion ($23.30 billion), while the total number of apartments authorized by building permits increased to 279,306, up 71.5 percent, both year on year.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter the number of buildings given occupancy permits by municipalities in Turkey increased by 87.1 percent to 46,357 buildings, compared to the first quarter of 2013.
