Building permits in Turkey up 28 percent in Q1

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the number of buildings authorized by building permits from municipalities in Turkey in the first quarter of the current year amounted to 32,548, up 28 percent from 25,424 registered during the same quarter of the previous year. In the first quarter of 2014, the number of buildings authorized by municipality building permits totaled 46,037.
 
In the January-March period this year, the value of the buildings in question rose by 38.5 percent percent year on year to TRY 45.9 billion ($15.45 billion), while the total number of apartments authorized by building permits recorded an increase of 34.7 percent to 248,925, both year on year.
 
Meanwhile, in the first three months the number of buildings given occupancy permits by municipalities in Turkey increased by 2.6 percent to 24,237 buildings, compared to the first three months of 2015.
