Brazil’s industrial output declines in June, H1

Brazil industrial output in June declined 0.3 percent, month-on-month, and 3.2 percent, year-on-year, according to figures released this week by the nation’s Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

IBGE said the country’s industrial production in H1 diminished 6.3 percent, year-on-year, and 5 percent in the past twelve months.

According to IBGE, the machine and equipment, and the motor vehicle segments were among the most impacted activities in June when compared to May, declining by 7.2 and 2.8 percent, respectively. The month-on-month decline in the metals segment in June reached 2.2 percent.

In the year-on-year comparison, the motor vehicle segment was among the most affected, falling 10.7 percent, while in the metals segment the decline reached 7.5 percent.
