Long steel producer Siderurgica Norte Brasil (Sinobras) has received a license to expand its mill in the city of Maraba, in the state of Para, Brazil, the company announced on Thursday.

The state’s governor delivered the document to the company’s vice-president, Ian Correa.

The expanding of the mill includes a new laminator, which has a capacity to process 500,000 metric tons (mt) of steel per year. The expanding of the plant is expected to be complete by March 2016.

According to Sinobras, other new equipment will be installed in the expanded mill. All of them would give the company an 800,000 mt/year capacity, it said.

“We received our license with much pride. For the expanding of Sinobras we’ll make an expected investment of $200 million,” said Correa.
