Finland-based engineering and technology company Metso Outotec Corporation has announced that Brazilian miner Samarco Mineração set a monthly production world record of 824,829 mt of high-grade pellets in August at the single pelletizing plant No. 4 at its Ubu site in Brazil.

At an annual level, the production is equivalent to approximately 8.8 million mt to 9 million mt per year of pellets in a single machine.

The pelletizing plant in question was supplied by Metso, while Samarco has installed three additional Metso Pelletizing Plants at its Ubu site.

Currently, only the plant No. 4 is in operation, and the companies are discussing the revamp of the three other plants to continue increasing pellet production and decarbonizing the steel industry processes using sustainable technologies.

Metso’s traveling grate pelletizing process ensures high performance and quality with low investment and operating costs, as well as decreased energy consumption and emissions.
