In August this year, Brazil's nickel production recorded its highest monthly volume so far this year at 6,473 mt, rising by 12.09 percent compared to July and up 26.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the latest data released by the Brazilian Institute of Non-ferrous Metals (ICZ). In the first seven months of the year, the country's nickel production rose by 2.16 percent year on year to 45,090 mt.
In August this year, Brazil exported 4,240 mt of nickel, indicating a month-on-month increase of 11.6 percent and up 14.6 percent year on year. In the January-August period of this year, Brazil's nickel exports rose 4.09 percent compared to the first eight months of 2012, totaling 31,564 mt.
Meanwhile, in August this year apparent nickel consumption in the Brazilian domestic market including imports amounted to 1,566 mt, while it reached 12,516 mt in the first eight months of the year.
