Spanish plantmaker Russula has announced that Brazilian steel producer Silat has rolled the first wire rod in coil at its new single-strand wire rod mill, located in Fortaleza, Brazil, supplied by Russula. The new high-speed wire rod mill produces 5.5-16 mm wire rod and rebar in coils, complementing Silat’s current production capability of 8-32 mm straight reinforcing bar for a total capacity of 600,000 mt per year.

According to Russula, the wire rod produced on the first day of operations was flawless and commercially saleable. The high-speed wire rod mill is one of the most advanced rolling mills in the region.
