Brazilian slab producer Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem (CSP) has received its operating license (OL) from the Ceara state environment authority, Semace, according to several media reports this week. CSP is a JV owned by Vale, Dongkuk and Posco.

The company’s operating license attests that the local steelmaker met all commitments it assumed from building the project to commissioning the mill. CSP is the first integrated steelmaker in the country’s northeast region.

CSP invested about BRL 1 billion in environment-related equipment, including equipment for managing waste and monitoring emissions.
