According to the statistics provided by
Brazil's National Union of the Industry of Extraction of Iron and Base Metals (Sinferbase), the country's
iron ore exports in May this year amounted to 22.45 million metric tons, climbing by 86.47 percent year on year.
In May,
iron ore exports of the world's largest
iron ore exporter
Vale accounted for 89.23 percent of the country's total
iron ore exports, amounting to 20.03 million metric tons, up 77.12 percent year on year.
Meanwhile,
Brazil's
iron ore exports in the first five months of 2010 rose by 37.91 percent year on year, reaching 104.42 million metric tons.
Vale's share in
Brazil's total
iron ore exports in the January-May period reached 89.19 percent and amounted to 93.14 million metric tons, climbing by 30.93 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
