Brazilian flat steel distributor sales in July rose 5.7 percent, year-on-year, according to data released on Tuesday by the country’s steel distributors association, Inda.
Inda said flat steel sales by local distributors in July reached 265,200 mt, 18.8 percent up when compared to June.
Purchases of flats by Brazilian distributors in July improved 5 percent, year-on-year, and 2.3 percent, month-on-month, to 234,900 mt.
Distributors’ flat steel inventory in July totaled 925,700 mt, 3.2 percent down, month-on-month. Inventory turnover in July fell to 3.5 months, from 4.3 months in June.
Imports of flats in July surged 200.5 percent, year-on-year, and 15.2 percent, month-on-month, to 117,900 mt, according to Inda’s data.
Inda estimated both the purchase and sale of flats by local distributors in August will rise 5 percent, month-on-month.
