Brazilian exports of flat steel soar in March

Brazilian exports of flat steel in March have soared 297.1 percent, year-on-year, to 312,440 mt, according to data released by the nation’s ministry of development, industry and foreign trade, MDIC.

According to MDIC, the product’s share in Brazilian total exports increased from 0.41 percent in March 2014 to 1.16 percent in the third month of 2015.

The 312,440 mt of the product sold overseas in March generated $197.6 million, up 175.9 percent from $71.6 million in the same period of 2014, reflecting a higher currency exchange.
