Brazil iron ore production increases in first half of 2014

Brazil's iron ore production increased 9.57 percent in the first half of the year, the nation’s iron ore association Sinferbase said recently.

According to Sinferbase, which cites data from Brazil’s national department of mineral production (DNPM), the result was the best the South American country has registered since 2011.

Citing data from Vale, Sinferbase said Brazil’s largest iron ore company produced 150.5 million mt of the product in the period, 15.1 million mt more than in the first half of 2013.
