Brazil's foreign trade ministry has announced that the country's new antidumping (AD) duty legislation has gone into effect as of October 1. The new legislation introduces important changes intended to meet the challenges Brazilian foreign trade is currently facing.

According to the new regulations, the duration of an antidumping investigation will be reduced to 10 months from 15 months. It will also be assured that preliminary decisions are made within 120 days after the initiation of an investigation. Currently, preliminary determinations are usually announced within an average of 240 days.
