The Brazilian industry and foreign trade ministry's commerce chamber, Camex, has imposed an antidumping duty on heavy steel plate imports from China, South Korea, Ukraine and South Africa. The antidumping duty rate will vary between $135.08/mt and $261.79/mt and will be valid for five years.

The antidumping duty investigation application was filed by the Brazilian steelmaker Usinas Siderúrgicas de Minas Gerais S.A. (Usiminas) in December 2011. The investigation included Russia and Australia in addition to the four abovementioned countries when it was first launched in April 2012; however, both countries were excluded from the duty investigation in December 2012 as their exports to Brazil were negligible.

The products subject to the antidumping duty order fall under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7208.51.00 and 7208.52.00.
