Brazil is currently evaluating a proposal that could set a quota for the country’s steel exports to the US in exchange for exclusion from the Section 232 tariffs, according to several media reoports.

The proposal was confirmed by Brazilian president Michel Temer, according to Reuters and Valor. Temer said the nation will evaluate the proposal to solve the issue an avoid the 25 percent tariff, which is seen by Brazil as “heavy.”

Temer said Brazil should soon respond to the issue, but he did not provide a timeline for doing so.
