A major steel consuming segment, Brazil’s civil construction industry lost 483,000 job positions in 2015, a union said this week.

In partnership with major research institution FGV and citing data from the nation’s labor ministry, SindusconSP, a Sao Paulo state civil construction union, said the number of jobs in Brazil in December fell 3.98 percent, month-on-month. Considering seasonal factors, job losses in the last month of the year amounted to 117,600.

Brazil’s civil construction segment ended December with 2.83 million formal job positions. SindusconSP said the deterioration of the job positions in the civil construction segment affects all parts of the country.
