BlueScope Steel Thai unit inaugurates 2nd line

Australian steelmaker BlueScope Steel's unit in Thailand today announced that it inaugurated its second metallic coating line at its plant in Rayong Province, Thailand. The new metallic coating line, which was constructed at a cost of around Baht 2.5 billion ($86 million), has been designed to produce premium-quality metallic coated flat steel products. The new line will increase the metallic coated flat steel production of the plant by 200'000 tons to 375'000 tons. BlueScope Steel's Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Kirby Adams, said, "The expansion of the Map Ta Phut plant reflects BlueScope Steel's confidence in the long-term business opportunities offered in Thailand and its local commitment to its customers here. The current economic growth in Thailand is encouraging and we are seeing its effect on the local building and construction market." President BlueScope Steel Thailand, Mr. Ian Dickson, added, "The products from the new facility will satisfy growing domestic demand, particularly in the growing Thai construction and manufacturing markets."
