BlueScope Steel completes IMSA Steel acquisition

BlueScope Steel North America Corporation, a subsidiary of Australia's BlueScope Steel Limited, said Monday that it has completed its acquisition of steel building construction company, IMSA Steel Corp., from Ternium S.A.

The purchase of IMSA Steel cost BlueScope Steel US$730 million, and will make BlueScope the second-largest steel building construction company in the United States

BlueScope Steel Managing Director and CEO, Mr Paul O'Malley, said, "The acquisition of this high quality US business marks a significant milestone in the implementation of BlueScope Steel's North American strategy."

IMSA Steel Corp. has four businesses with manufacturing facilities throughout the US and sales throughout North America. BlueScope will now have an additional 2,500 employees in its global community from the four distinct businesses of IMSA:  ASC Profiles Inc., Steelscape Inc., Metl-Span, LLC, and Varco Pruden Buildings Inc.
