BHP Billiton reports record iron ore production in Q3

Major Australian steel producer BHP Billiton reported that a record level has been reached in Western Australian iron ore production with 22 million mts in the third quarter. Production level in the third quarter of 2003 is up by 14% compared to same period in 2002 and by 8% over the previous quarter. These results are attributed to high demand from Asian markets, particularly from China. Besides, according to reports, iron ore shipments were recorded as 21.5 milliom mts in the third quarter.
