BC Iron sees improved iron ore output in March quarter

Australian iron ore development company BC Iron Limited has announced that in the quarter ended on March 31 it produced 1.20 million mt of iron ore, up 49 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year, while its iron ore shipments in the March quarter amounted to 1.12 million mt, increasing by nine percent year on year.

According to BC Iron, the Nullagine iron ore project's production guidance of approximately 5 million mt for the financial year 2012-13 will be achieved and this production level will be raised to greater than 6 million mt per year during the fourth quarter of the financial year 2012-13.

BC Iron also stated that, following the purchase of a 25 percent shareholding from Fortescue, BC Iron's attributable iron ore exports increased by 80 percent.
