Xinjiang-based Chinese steelmaker Bayi Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. (Bayi Steel) has told its investors at the interactive platform that the demand for steel has slackened since the second half of last year, while the company said that it still holds a cautiously optimistic view as regards the future prospects for the steel market.

Bayi Steel forecast that demand for steel will likely improve slightly in 2023 compared to 2022 and that demand in the second quarter will be better than that in the first quarter this year.
