Baosteel to supply steel for crankshafts to Toyota

Shanghai-based Chinese steel giant Baosteel has announced that its subsidiary Baosteel Special Steel's steel used in automobile crankshafts has been granted certification by major Japanese auto producer Toyota Motor Company. Accordingly, the volume of the steel in question to be supplied by Baosteel Special Steel to Toyota in the initial contract totals 570 mt.

This is the first time Baosteel Special Steel will supply steel used in automobile parts to the Japanese auto sector.

Since 2010, Baosteel Special Steel had been working to gain the certification for steel used in crankshafts from Toyota Motor Company. At present, it is also working to gain similar certifications from other Japanese automobile manufactures.
