Baosteel starts construction on 2,030 mm CR project at Zhanjiang

Major Chinese steelmaker Baosteel has announced that construction work on the 2,030 mm cold rolling project at its Zhanjiang steel production base started on September 3.

The project in question includes one pickling unit, one annealing unit and two hot dip galvanizing units. In particular, the pickling unit will start to operate at the end of May 2016, while the other units will be commissioned between June and September of the same year. The project's designed overall output capacity is 2.2 million mt, mainly for medium- and high-end steel sheet for application in automotive and home appliance manufacture.
