Baosteel Special Steel Branch has recently succeeded in smelting ultra-low carbon and high purity steel for nickel-based alloy tubing for use in oil-wells.
The difficulty in smelting this low carbon and high purity steel meant that China has long relied on imports for its needs in this area. According to Baosteel Special Steel Branch, it finally succeeded in smelting this steel type through making full use of its technological resources, optimizing operation techniques at its production line launched at the beginning of the current year, developing the experimental scheme of smelting ultra-low carbon and high purity steel in its 30 mt electric furnace, and by selecting experienced technicians to supervise the production process.
