Inner Mongolia-based Chinese steel producer Baotou Iron and Steel Company (Baogang Group) has announced that it has become a qualified supplier of steel sheet for the Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems (Vestas).

Accordingly, Baogang will have the opportunity to sell its steel sheet products for wind turbines to Vestas. Steel sheets account for 70 percent of total steel usage in manufacture of wind power generation equipment.

Baogang commissioned its production of steel sheets for wind turbines in 2008, with a current production capacity of 500,000 mt per year.
