Bahia state miner Bamin said this week it concluded in September a feasibility study for the iron ore project it has in the Brazilian state.

Despite not disclosing further details about the project, a top official at the company said the project could produce 20 million mt/year during the first 12 years of the mine’s operation.

The company said it has all licenses it needs to operate, in addition to the needed documents to a private terminal it owns at the Porto Sul project. Bamin said a railway to help it transport the iron ore to the port will be a challenge.

The Ferrovia de Integração Oeste Leste (Fiol) railway can transport 60 million mt /year of grains and iron ore, but its trails don’t reach the port. Bamin said it has a mine in conditions to operate, but it needs both the port and the railway to transport its iron ore.
