Bahru Stainless to commission second phase in Q1 2013

Spain-based stainless steel producer Acerinox has announced that in the first nine months of the current year its Malaysian subsidiary Bahru Stainless produced a total of 40,695 mt of cold rolled stainless steel from its Phase I which was commissioned in December 2011.
 
The construction of Phase II is continuing at a good pace, with the first equipment having already been received. Phase II is expected to be commissioned at the end of the first quarter of 2013.
 
With the completion of Phase II, Bahru Stainless will have an integrated stainless steel plant with an overall annual melting capacity of 1 million mt and a cold rolling capacity of 600,000 mt.
 
According to Acerinox's statement, during its first year of operation Bahru Stainless has already supplied material to more than 150 customers in 12 countries.
