AvestaPolarit to put its first melting shop in maintenance

As the new meltshop has got into operation the Finnish stainless steel producer AvestaPolarit decided to put its first stainless steel meltshop through a maintenance process which is a part of the overall development programme for the Tornio Works that will be carried out in 2004. It is estimated that this maintenance process will cost AvestaPolarit €55 million, where €19 million of this amount will be allocated for environmental protection measures. By means of this investment dust emissions from the meltshop will be reduced while total dust emissions from the Tornio Works will be reduced over 30%.
