Average import iron ore price in China down 8.6% in Jan-Sept

In the January-September period this year, China’s overall price index for imported commodities declined by 5.3 percent year on year, as announced by the China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC). In particular, in the given period average prices of imported iron ore and coal decreased by 8.6 percent and 14.8 percent year on year, respectively.

In the January-September period this year, China’s imports of iron ore amounted to 763 million mt, up 9.1 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the given period China imported 180 million mt of coal, rising by 15.2 percent year on year.
