Automotive sales in Turkey up 12.4 percent in May from April

In May this year, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey decreased by 9.03 percent year on year and were up by 12.4 percent month on month to 85,422 units, according to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). In the given month, domestic sales of passenger cars in Turkey decreased by 10.9 percent year on year and were up by 13.4 percent month on month to 65,799 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles decreased by 2.2 percent year on year and were up by 9.1 percent month on month to 19,623 units.
 
Meanwhile, in the January-May period of this year domestic sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles saw a decrease of 8.6 percent year on year, amounting to 317,500 units. In the given period, domestic sales of passenger cars in the country decreased by 10.3 percent to 239,760 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles fell by 2.7 percent to 77,740 units, both on year-on-year basis.
