General Motors Company, Ford Motor Company and Chrysler Group LLC all reported improved vehicle sales in February, with General Motors posting the largest increase.

General Motors' vehicle sales rose 46 percent from February 2010 to 207,028 units last month, as sales also rose 16 percent over January 2011. Compared to year-ago levels, Ford sales rose 10 percent to 156,626 units, and Chrysler Group sales increased 13 percent to 95,102 units.

Automakers anticipate that with the continued escalation of oil prices, demand for hybrid vehicles, and smaller, more efficient, vehicles will continue to drive higher vehicle sales.
