The Australian Customs and Border Protection Service has announced that it has initiated an accelerated review of the current antidumping duty notice and countervailing duty notice in respect of certain hollow structural section (HSS) imports from China in so far as they relate to new exporter Jinan Iron & Steel Group Co., Ltd. Cold Roll-forming Steel Co. (Jinan Iron and Steel).

The initial investigation concerned the alleged dumping and subsidization of imports of the abovementioned goods from China, South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand in September 2011. As SteelOrbis previously reported, in July 2012 Australia decided to impose an antidumping duty on HSS imports from China, South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand and a countervailing duty on the same products from China.

The Australian Customs and Border Protection Service is expected to complete the accelerated investigation by June this year.

The goods subject to investigation are classified under item numbers 73063000, 73066100 and 73066900.
