Asil Celik and the union to seek mutual agreement

Existence of a dispute between the Turkish high quality steel producer Asil Celik, with a 235'000 mts of hot rolled production annual capacity, and the workers union on the salaries of workers was previously pronounced in the market. The possibility of the workers, in expectancy of a salary increase, to go on a strike was pronounced at that date. SteelOrbis understands from the latest developments that the union has received an unofficial warning from the labour organisation stating that their action is not in strict compliance with the procedures. For this reason it appears that the union has backed out from its intention of strike. It is now expected that Asil Celik and the union will hold a meeting with the presence of an independent arbitrator, to discuss the existing problems and look for a mutual agreement in the following weeks.
