Activity in Argentina’s civil construction industry rose 10.4 percent in April year-on-year, setting a new monthly record according to data released by the nation’s Institute of Statistics and Census, INDEC.

While sales of cement increased, domestic sales of rebar dropped 0.8 percent in April, year-on-year, despite the 3.8 percent increase in the comparison with the month prior. Domestic sales of rebar in the first four months of 2015 declined 5.6 percent year-on-year, INDEC said.

According to a research by INDEC, Argentinian companies expect the nation’s civil construction industry to remain stable in May.

INDEC said 73.7 percent of the private companies it interviewed said the industry’s activity won’t change in May in respect to the month prior, while 10.5 percent believe the industrial activity in the segment will decline.
