Preliminary numbers by Argentina’s chamber of the steel industry, Acero Argentino (AA), indicate crude steel production in August increasing from July by 22.0 percent to 421,900 mt.
The increase reportedly reflects return to normal operations, as in July steel production in Argentina was heavily affected by labor strikes, commanded by the workers union UOM.
Under the same comparative basis, the production of HRC increased by 16.3 percent to 209,500 mt, the production of CRC increased by 3.7 percent to 109,700 mt and the production of long products increased by 12.4 percent to 188,300 mt.
