Argentina posts record results for steel output

Argentina's steel chamber CIS disclosed that the country's crude steel production rose 4.8 percent year on year to 5.4 million metric tons in 2005. Hot rolled steel output increased 2.5 percent year on year to 4.9 million metric tons in 2005 while cold rolled steel output grew 0.6 percent to 1.4 million metric tons. CIS indicates that the increased demand especially in the construction, agriculture, automotive and household appliance sectors contributed to these record results.
